Collectibles-General (Antiques)/James Dixon teapot

Question
I have acquired fo £1 a JD&S pewter teapot in excellent condition. On the bottom is
JD & S (then it looks like E1 written sideways, then a shield with some writing in it
Underneath the JD & S are the numbers 6 0 5 4, and under that a 4. Does this have any value, and also should I clean it or leave it as it is (tarnished)?
Your help would be appreciated

Value just a few pounds at best.

The JD&S mark is most often found on silver plated examples, which might explain why you say it is "tarnished", rather than having a pewter colour. Use a silver polish to tart it up, though don't be surprised if the plating is worn.
