Question
i have a small box stamped james dixon and sons, it has a trumpet and the stamp of 942M,i was wondering what this is and what is its value.thanks for your time

Answer

Made in Sheffield, England, not earlier than 1879. 942M is the pattern number, but since these aren't documented, there is no way to know what it was origially described as when new. So, it's a: stamp box; sandwich box, trinket box, bait box, cigarette box, whatever, take your pick.

Very common, very late, value miniscule.
