Question
Hi Eileen,
I sent a message a few days ago and have not heard back from you.  My sister's grandson is here (born last Friday), he is in a bassinet right now but I need to get this bed in shape ASAP!  The bed is 33 years old and I have tried Bix stripper and Kleen strip without any luck can you give me a suggestion.  If I don't hear from you soon I will have to paint the bed.
Thank you.
Debbie

Answer
Hi Debbie
Nice to hear from you.
I apologise for the delay, but I think it must have been a problem with the site as I am always at my PC each evening.
Debbie I am concerned that this bed may have had a baked on paint finish originally. If the strippers you used did nothing.
Can you tell me if the paint is original?
If it is, this will be a paint grade crib and will need repainting and not stripping.
Hope this helps and please get back to me.
Regards
Eileen

Expertise

I can answer most questions about the repairing and refinishing of all your old furniture items (the things we call antiques). I can also give you advice on what wood items to choose and what wood items to avoid at auctions, flea markets etc. I DO NOT give appraisals on antiques as this is not my field of expertise.

Experience

I have been repairing, refinishing and of course buying old furniture for the past 30 years. On any given weekend I can be found at auction sales or flea markets searching out a good buy. I have taken several courses in this area over the years, but I find "Hands On" learning to be the best teacher. I can help you avoid the pitfalls and problems of this wonderful rewarding craft.
