Question
I have a Lane Co cedar chest (circa my guess 1949)
would like to know the value and/or how to go about  getting appraisal and or/ selling of such an item

Answer
Linda - If you can find the serial number of the chest here is the contact info at Lane. They will look up the date of manufacture for you. http://www.lanefurniture.com/customer_care/FrequentlyAsked3.asp?number=33

Currently Lane chests in good conditon are selling for between $100 and $200 at auction and on eBay. I suggest you show the chest or pictures of the chest to a local dealer and to an auctioneer to get an idea of prices in your part of the country. Try to get a free "appraisal". You don't want to pay for one at that price level. Thanks for writing. Fred Taylor
