Question
My husband and I have two circular end tables with marble tops which were owned by his great-grandmother. The markings are "Mahogany Association, Inc." & "By Victorian #413." We're curious about the general value.  Can you give me any idea? If not, could you give us the name of a book(s) which might help us?
Thanks!
Morrighan

Answer
Hi Morrighan
Nice to hear from you.
Your tables sound lovely.
The very best author on antique furniture is a man called "Grotz". He followed in the footsteps of his famous (and very funny) father George.
I have several of his books and refer to them often.
The "mahogany association" label would indicate your tables are genuine mahogany.
Here is a link you will find of interest.
This is a wonderful site overall, and I just picked "marble top end tables" in their search box.

Hope this helps.

Expertise

I can answer most questions about the repairing and refinishing of all your old furniture items (the things we call antiques). I can also give you advice on what wood items to choose and what wood items to avoid at auctions, flea markets etc. I DO NOT give appraisals on antiques as this is not my field of expertise.

Experience

I have been repairing, refinishing and of course buying old furniture for the past 30 years. On any given weekend I can be found at auction sales or flea markets searching out a good buy. I have taken several courses in this area over the years, but I find "Hands On" learning to be the best teacher. I can help you avoid the pitfalls and problems of this wonderful rewarding craft.
