Collectibles-General (Antiques)/Old Wood Market

Question
Dear Eileen,
I live in the Mid west and have a lot of access to old wood, whether its barn or whatever. Some of it is in
very good condition. Is there any market for this? I am currently tearing down a faded red 'stables type' barn, and the wood is excellent, also some of the hardware I find(such as hinges, etc) is unique and I was wondering about that also. I know it probably depends on a lot of factors, but a general respopnse will be fine.

Thanks,
Gregg Emerson

Answer
Hi Again Gregg
Sorry you were disappointed with my answer but I felt I answered your question of "Is there any market for this" (wood and hardware).
If you read my answer again you will see I answered "yes there certainly is"
I also explained I live in Ontario which could be different than the Midwest US.
If you wanted to know more than you should have expanded your question and asked for more than a general response.
My aim is to please but yours will help too LOL
So what else do you want to know?
Kindest Regards
Eileen

Hi Gregg
Nice to hear from you.
I am up in Southern Ontario and can tell you that there certainly is a great market here for weathered board of any kind.
And the old hardware for certain too.
I cannot imagine your area would be different.
Hope this helps
Regards
Eileen

Expertise

I can answer most questions about the repairing and refinishing of all your old furniture items (the things we call antiques). I can also give you advice on what wood items to choose and what wood items to avoid at auctions, flea markets etc. I DO NOT give appraisals on antiques as this is not my field of expertise.

Experience

I have been repairing, refinishing and of course buying old furniture for the past 30 years. On any given weekend I can be found at auction sales or flea markets searching out a good buy. I have taken several courses in this area over the years, but I find "Hands On" learning to be the best teacher. I can help you avoid the pitfalls and problems of this wonderful rewarding craft.
