Collectibles-General (Antiques)/Old sewing machine needle containers

Question
Hi Barbara!!

I have 4 round wooden needle holders for sewing machines.  On two of the wooden containers there is the following statement:

"Reg. U. S. Pat. Off. Jan. 26 '29"

It also shows trademark "Boyer Brand".  Finally, it states, " Buy new shuttle if machine skips stitches or breaks".

There is labeling on the lid of the round container that list a large number 16 and beneath it 30-80.

Can you tell me anything about these containers, their value and where I might find further information about them?

Answer
Hello Linda.  The items you describe are, in fact, needle containers.  You can search the patent on line for all the specifics.  The containers themselves are very plentiful, and therefore, not worth very much, even in mint or unused condition.  You can find these items selling on ebay.  That should give you a good idea of what the market will bear on their value.  Barb
