Question
QUESTION: I HAVE A PEWTER GOBLET DEPICTING A BATTLE SCENE WITH SPEARS, SWORDS, AXES AND SHEILDS.  SOUNDS CHARMING I KNOW! ON THE BASE THERE IS AN EMBOSSING OF AN ANGEL HOLDING A SWORD AND SCALES AND THE INITIALS TB UNDERNEATH.  DO YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT IT BECAUSE I DON'T AND I WOULD BE GRATEFUL TO DATE IT AND FIND OUT MORE.  THANKS.

ANSWER: -

I cannot identify the particular piece, but pewter cups and beakers of this type were made as souvenir pieces in Germany in the late 19th and early 20th Centuries.

QUESTION: Thanks for your reply.  Do you know how I can find out what the initials on the base relate to?  I'd like to find out a bit more and perhaps a rough value.  Do you have any further advice you can give me?

Answer
-

German maker's marks are documented in Hintze: Die Deutschen Zinngiesser, which stretches to 12 volumes. Published in the 1920s, it may not cover the period in which your piece was made.

Value is just a few dollars.
