Collectibles-General (Antiques)/Pepsi machine

Question
Roger,
How can you determine its age, i.e. that it is too new to show up in collector books?  I read somewhere that, based on the "The Light Refreshment" motif (on each side of my machine), it was early 60's.  At what year do the books stop registering information?  Thanks again,
K Bass

I have a Pepsi Vendorlator VF 81P – SA.  Serial number 7757841C.  Can you tell me anything about this machine?
-----Answer-----
Hi Kenneth,
Sorry no I can't, this machine is to new to show up in any of the collector books. I would try doing a search on ebay for it's value. Sorry but it's got to age more before any collector information shows up on it. I would guess you could get maybe from 100.00 to 400.00 for it.
Thank You
Rodger

Answer
Hi Kenneth

The book I have which just came out goes up to the late 50's. Your machine is what is known as a square top, it's later but how later I don't know. On all experts I tell people that I don't know much about soda machine or scales, just coin-op games, and I try to shy away from these question because I don't know much about them. I had a square top once and sold it at a local auction, I think I got 175.00 for it, around there and it was a coca-cola machine. I think my value guess is close, if it was really nice I would guess you might get 400.00 out of it. I can only give you a few ideas about here, I would check ebay for a correct value of search for soda machine collectors on the INTERNET. I wish I could tell you more but I have never been a collector of pop machines, just games.
Thank You
Rodger

Expertise

I am an expert on old coin operated machines, slot machines, trade stimulator's, jukeboxes, old arcade machines, etc. I have been identifying these for people who respond to my web site listed below, for a few years now. In almost all cases I am able to tell them about their old coin operated machines, the year, the value, and other general information about their machines. I do not know much about soda vending machines, coin banks, or scales, but I will try to help you with these if I can. Experience

I bought my first slot machine, a .50 Cent Mills Black Cherry in 1969 and have been hooked from that time, I still have that Slot machine! Before that I found a open barrel full of old scraped jukebox wall boxes behind a restaurant, I wanted them all but never took a one of them. Anything that took a coin drove me nuts!
