Collectibles-General (Antiques)/Pewter bowl

Question
Hello,
I just purchased a Thomas & Townsend Compton pewter bowl.  It has their mark on the bottom as well as a "Made in London" mark and four smaller marks (in order, they look like a building, a flag with a cross, a lion, and T&C).  Could you comment on possible age and value and anything you know about these pewterers?  Also, if I were to clean this bowl, should it be done professionally and, if so, can you recommend someone?

Thank you!

Compton's were a large pewter manufacturer in London in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. They exported vast amounts of pewter to America. Value perhaps $100. Why clean it - pewter looks far better when left alone - assuming you are American, I'm afraid your countrymen have been responsible for wrecking thousands of fine pewter objects by cleaning them.
