Collectibles-General (Antiques)/Sewing Tools

Question
I recently was given my Great Grandmothers sewing machine table, the sewing machine was not still on it, however, in a drawer was her bobbins and other sewing tools.  I am not at all knowledgable on this sort of thing.  All of the bobbins and little gadgets that I imagine were used on the sewing maching are in a little box from 1909 with the name of New Home.  Is this an area that you have knowledge in?  If so please let me know your opinion, if not, sorry to have wasted your time.  Thanks in advance! Michelle

Answer
Hello Michelle.  How nice that you have your Great Grandmother's sewing items.  I'm not sure exactly what you are asking, but I'll assume you want to know if the things you have are collectible or have any value.  First off, let me say, it is impossible to attach a value to sentiment.  But since I don't have any idea what items you have, you may have to do some internet surfing!  Check out sewing machine collectors (many have sites) and search ebay for whatever items you have; New Home sewing machine, for example.  Hopefully, you will find something similar to what you have and can get an idea of what things are selling for.  If you have an appraiser in your area (check the yellow pages of your phone book), they may be able to help you also.  I'm envious of your treasures!  Good luck with your search.  Barb
