Collectibles-General (Antiques)/Simanco Parts Question

Question
Hi there...we recently found a small wooden box that opens up flat and then can be folded back into its box form.  Inside we found metal parts that have stamped letters on them as well as serial numbers. One of the pieces is stamped with the name "Simanco."  We assume that they are sowing maching parts, but are not sure.  Any insight as to what it might be?  I can send a picture to you if you would like to see the item. Thank you so much for your time.  Kind regards, Kelley

Answer
Hello Kelley.  It sounds like you have a wooden box with industrial sewing machine parts.  The box has been called the "puzzle" box because of the way the sides of the box come together when folded close.  I am no expert on sewing machines, so I don't know if Simanco was the name of the company that manufactured the parts or if it was the name of an industrial sewing machine itself.  There are many sewing machine web sites on the internet, as well as a number of books out on sewing machines, so you should be able to find more info than I can provide, but searching the Internet.  Good luck.  Barb
