Question
I just brought home a Standard machine that on the plate above the bobbin it is stamped Standard Sewing Machine, Cleveland, OH Patent Pending February 5, 1884, July 6, 1886, January 12, 1887  Serial Number is N169858.  I know that is has been placed into a Demorest stand as that is the stand and markings that are on the stand.  I would like to find information on the machine.  It is a working machine that needs much love to get it to the point that it can be used on a regular basis, it has a box of attachments and other things.  Can you assist me?

Expertise

I have been a collector of antique sewing tools and thimbles for over 30 years. I am also a dealer in this field and sell on eBay under the name -- serengeti2. I am NOT, and I repeat NOT an expert on antique or vintage domestic household sewing machines used for everyday home sewing. I can offer help when it comes to TOY or miniature collectible sewing machines ONLY.
