Collectibles-General (Antiques)/Trying to identify wooden bucket

Question
It isn't quite furniture, but I was wondering if you might be able to help identify a wooden bucket that I recently acquired.  It looks very much like a firkin and has a bent wood handle.  Inside it has two wooden dividers, creating three sections.  I was told it was a cheese bucket, but I can't find any information on it or find anything similar on the web.  Does this description ring a bell?  Thank you

Answer
Hi Stephanie
Nice to hear from you.
The description does not ring a bell.
But actually I have made cheese myself and just can't see why the bucket would be seperated into 3 sections unless the sections create a press of sorts to squeeze the curd.
The usual way is with a cheese press.
Do the sections move?
I also own an old ice cream wooden bucket which has a paddle made of 3 pieces of wood.
Is there any indication that the bucket ever had a handle going out the side..any hole?
Get back to me
Kindest Regards
Eileen

Expertise

I can answer most questions about the repairing and refinishing of all your old furniture items (the things we call antiques). I can also give you advice on what wood items to choose and what wood items to avoid at auctions, flea markets etc. I DO NOT give appraisals on antiques as this is not my field of expertise.

Experience

I have been repairing, refinishing and of course buying old furniture for the past 30 years. On any given weekend I can be found at auction sales or flea markets searching out a good buy. I have taken several courses in this area over the years, but I find "Hands On" learning to be the best teacher. I can help you avoid the pitfalls and problems of this wonderful rewarding craft.
