Question
i have recently acquired a very interesting old firearm.  i am an avid gun collector, but mainly modern firearms, so i dont know much about this gun at all.  the barrel is stamped Whitneyville armory, CT. 45-60 pat...etc...  it is in very nice condition and has an octagon barrel.  it is a lever action.  can you help me with a value range of this gun?

thank you,
shad jarvis

Answer
Whitneyville is a trade name for the Whitney Arms Company of Connecticut. You have a large frame Whitney-Kennedy Lever Action Repeater sporting rifle made between 1879 and 1886. Should weigh 9.5 lbs. An original gun, in nice condition, most (70%) of the blue, never been cleanned, has all the parts ect, you known the drill, might bring $750, nicer as high as $3000. Special features bring more.
