Question
Hello,
I have a Gottliebs Skill-Pool pinball machine. I purchased it for my son about 12 years ago. It worked then, but has been idle for 8 or so years. Recently a person I know expressed interest in purchasing it, but I do not know what the worth is. The paint is in good condition. It needs cleaning. It was/still is a 5 cent machine. I do not want to short-change my son selling this machine for too little, and I do not want to charge the interested person too much. I would appreciate your help.
Thanks

Answer
Hi Peter,

I don't know why I wasn't notified that you had a question, I just received notification tonight that you were waiting. Sorry for the delay, why, how knows about these things. Anyway.........

NICE MACHINE! Valuable!

OK, I am sure I have you attention now, right? SO let's get at it..........

Skill-Pool by Gottlieb, first produced and manufactured in 1952 around August of that year. they made or produced 2,100 units. Value as of 2004 of this machine is $1,125.00

If it was working and stored warm, it might just need some exercise Electro/Mechanical machines need to be played to keep things free. When they have been stored for a while the components need to be manually worked to free them up, not much to it, just takes a little time to get things loose again.
I hope this is good information for you and saves you from giving away a high dollar old classic pinball like yours.
Sincerely
Rodger Knutson

Expertise

I am an expert on old coin operated machines, slot machines, trade stimulator's, jukeboxes, old arcade machines, etc. I have been identifying these for people who respond to my web site listed below, for a few years now. In almost all cases I am able to tell them about their old coin operated machines, the year, the value, and other general information about their machines. I do not know much about soda vending machines, coin banks, or scales, but I will try to help you with these if I can. Experience

I bought my first slot machine, a .50 Cent Mills Black Cherry in 1969 and have been hooked from that time, I still have that Slot machine! Before that I found a open barrel full of old scraped jukebox wall boxes behind a restaurant, I wanted them all but never took a one of them. Anything that took a coin drove me nuts!
