Collectibles-General (Antiques)/Wooden Tea Caddy

Question
Hi Eileen, While on holliday last week, I was browsing local shops in Bath and spotted a wooden oval shaped tea caddy very simular to the one I have, when I arrived home I noticed that on mine the inlay work had a Bow with a Quiver/Arrow passing through with a wild rose leaf garland surrounding it. The hinged lid also has a oval shaped rose inlay. The general appearance looks very old and has some slight cracking of the solid wood construction, the interior looks as though it might have been lead lined at some point. Please could you give some advice as to its origin and its worth.
Yours Sincerely Mike Leonard

Answer
Hi Mike
So nice to hear from you.
Is there any way you could send me a picture.
My email is ecronk@sympatico.ca
Its impossible to comment without seeing this, and I would be most interested in doing so.
I am certainly not on expert in this area, but I have a friend who I am certain can shed some light on this for you.
Regards
Eileen

Expertise

I can answer most questions about the repairing and refinishing of all your old furniture items (the things we call antiques). I can also give you advice on what wood items to choose and what wood items to avoid at auctions, flea markets etc. I DO NOT give appraisals on antiques as this is not my field of expertise.

Experience

I have been repairing, refinishing and of course buying old furniture for the past 30 years. On any given weekend I can be found at auction sales or flea markets searching out a good buy. I have taken several courses in this area over the years, but I find "Hands On" learning to be the best teacher. I can help you avoid the pitfalls and problems of this wonderful rewarding craft.
