Question
I have an antique rope bottom rocking chair.  One corner is broke (wood).  I don't know who to try to get to fix it  Do you have any suggestions?
I think it may have been roped too tight.
Other than that problem it is in good condition.
Thank You,
Lee Ann

Answer
Hi Lee Ann
Nice to hear from you.
This should be an easy fix, but if you have no knowledge in this area, I would take it to a furniture restorer.
Don't let the name intimidate you.
There will be numerous such people in your area I'll bet.
Take the chair with you, and insist on an accurate estimate.
If this is a minor repair, which it sounds like, it should be well under $50.00.
Good Luck
Regards
Eileen

Expertise

I can answer most questions about the repairing and refinishing of all your old furniture items (the things we call antiques). I can also give you advice on what wood items to choose and what wood items to avoid at auctions, flea markets etc. I DO NOT give appraisals on antiques as this is not my field of expertise.

Experience

I have been repairing, refinishing and of course buying old furniture for the past 30 years. On any given weekend I can be found at auction sales or flea markets searching out a good buy. I have taken several courses in this area over the years, but I find "Hands On" learning to be the best teacher. I can help you avoid the pitfalls and problems of this wonderful rewarding craft.
