Collectibles-General (Antiques)/antique sideboard

Question
Hi there,
My antique sideboard is lovely but the top has become very
cloudy and murky. I've tried a few things (purchased at Home
Depot) that promised to remove the film and restore it's natural
luster to no avail. I don't want to refinish it, but I would like to
know how to remove the cloudy film without damaging it's
value.
Thanks so much,
Shari Fraser

Answer
Hi Shari
Nice to hear from you.
I am surprised you did not have any luck with the products you tried, but would you be willing to try one more?
I am enclosing a link to a product I have never used before, but am hearing great things about.

Try this as it is an easy fix, but if it fails please get back to me and I will try again to solve your problem

Expertise

I can answer most questions about the repairing and refinishing of all your old furniture items (the things we call antiques). I can also give you advice on what wood items to choose and what wood items to avoid at auctions, flea markets etc. I DO NOT give appraisals on antiques as this is not my field of expertise.

Experience

I have been repairing, refinishing and of course buying old furniture for the past 30 years. On any given weekend I can be found at auction sales or flea markets searching out a good buy. I have taken several courses in this area over the years, but I find "Hands On" learning to be the best teacher. I can help you avoid the pitfalls and problems of this wonderful rewarding craft.
