Hi, I was given an old thimble about 22 yrs. ago and was told it was approx. 80 yrs. old then, the thimble has the word "sterling" on the band above an engraved border at the bottom of the thimble.  I'm not sure what the picture is on the border, it's just different shapes. Inside the thimble there is a number in the middle at the very top of thimble which is a 6 and the letter "S" or # 5, I cant tell which one it is, but it is off to the right of the 6.  Any idea who made this thimble and about what yr. it was made in. I'd really like to find out if it is worth anything today.  Thank You!

From the description of the mark that is in the inside top of the thimble, it was made by Simons Bros. of Philadelphia.

With a photo of the pattern, I might be able to date it for you and then give you a better idea of value.  Please also provide me a detailed condition report.  Are there any holes in the thimble etc.?
