Question
Hi there, I was  hoping you might be able to help. I am wanting to know the approx date of a teapot by James Dixon and sons. Hallmarks are a trumpet, below that are the letters E P B M and numbers below this are 8843 and then a 4. Kind Regards, Shannon

Answer
-

1879-c1910.

EPBM = electroplated Britannia metal, a cheap silver substitute. BM is a pewter alloy formulated for fabrication (rolling, spinning,etc) rather than casting.

8843 = pattern number

4 probably the capacity in Imperial half-pints.
