Question
Hi! I know nothing about antiques, but I came across an old lamp shaped like a duck. The signature of the artist is named Thomas Taber. Is there an artist by that name and who made this old lamp?

Answer
Hi Millissa
Nice to hear from you
After a Google search, I found out a bit about Thomas Taber. Now I cannot tell you if its the same Tabor who made your lamp, but the chances seem good.
Thomas Tabor was an outdoors man who also carved duck decoys and wrote guides to outdoor places.
Unfortunately I could find nothing about his birth or death or if he still may be alive.
There is also a Thomas Tabor Museum and I think you should contact them with some enquiries.
Heres their email addy

I would be interested in hearing about anything you may find out.
Kindest Regards
Eileen

Expertise

I can answer most questions about the repairing and refinishing of all your old furniture items (the things we call antiques). I can also give you advice on what wood items to choose and what wood items to avoid at auctions, flea markets etc. I DO NOT give appraisals on antiques as this is not my field of expertise.

Experience

I have been repairing, refinishing and of course buying old furniture for the past 30 years. On any given weekend I can be found at auction sales or flea markets searching out a good buy. I have taken several courses in this area over the years, but I find "Hands On" learning to be the best teacher. I can help you avoid the pitfalls and problems of this wonderful rewarding craft.
