Question A friend visited your site regarding my carousel horse. The horse stands 53 inches and is extremely heavy for aluminum. Would cast aluminum be heavy? This was purchased in an antique shop in Phoenix 17 years ago for $1000. Your response indicated these were made in Mexico but nowhere does it indicate that. The horse is beautiful and not one of those that are on park carousels now..The base is identical to the coca-cola base in the antique dealers catalog..it appears there with a WW2 sailor. Can you give me anymore information on it's value? Thank you for your time.
Answer Your horse is no different from any of the other "Coke" horses. It was made in Mexico and has nothing to do with carousels OR Coca Cola. Older castings were made from heavier aluminum than the ones currently being made. I believe these have been in manufacture since the 1980's and are still being made today. Current market value depends upon which model you have. The smaller ones go for a little as $200.00 while the larger ones are selling in the $500 - $800 range.
