Question
Hi, I was wondering if you know of a product or method to get the smell of cigarette smoke out of hard wood furniture. I have a computer Armour that just reaks  and I can't seem to get the smell out. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

Answer
Hi Martha
Nice to hear from you.
Perhaps they make a product specifically for this but I do not know.
I use a mild bleach solution on any unfinished wood areas..underneath etc., and I have often used one of those orange citrus cleaners on finished areas..carefully though.
Do not let any moisture sit on the piece. Just a wipe and a dry. Then a nice waxing or lemon oil is great and also helps with the smell of smoke.
After this treatment..time will help.
Good luck and a great question
Regards
Eileen

Expertise

I can answer most questions about the repairing and refinishing of all your old furniture items (the things we call antiques). I can also give you advice on what wood items to choose and what wood items to avoid at auctions, flea markets etc. I DO NOT give appraisals on antiques as this is not my field of expertise.

Experience

I have been repairing, refinishing and of course buying old furniture for the past 30 years. On any given weekend I can be found at auction sales or flea markets searching out a good buy. I have taken several courses in this area over the years, but I find "Hands On" learning to be the best teacher. I can help you avoid the pitfalls and problems of this wonderful rewarding craft.
