Subject: columbus peanut machine

Question
Hi,
I purchased a Columbus peanut machine, someone had repainted it bright red.It has a octagon globe and a tray built into the base where it has a date of sept.15th 1908.
I am restoring it,is the correct color bright red or dark red, looks like top cover with small nipple has orig.bright red and also the center section, but the base when striped had darker red.Dont know which color to paint? and what decal belongs? Globe is 8 sided 7.5"x5.5"
Thanks,
Frank

Answer
Hello, you are talking to the right person.  I am the number one Columbus Collector in the US.  The correct most common color is the dark red you see.  They also made them in a dark green, but you see them less often.  If you would like to send me a picture I can tell you about the decal, and what machine it goes to.....
  thank you
