Collectibles-General (Antiques)/copper pan

Question
In March someone asked you a question about a signed Phila. copper pan with what was described as a forged handle.  The copper pans I have had (very few are circulating) over the years were all dovetailed on the bottom with cast iron handles.  Copper was an expensive commodity and was never used as a handle as some European countries did.  I think the Olac is not correct.  That is what is likely misleading you.  One letter is wrong and I think it is the 'c' but am not sure.  Phila pans in the area will bring a bit more than $100 and even higher if it has the companion lid.   But you certainly are right: Copper is currently 'out of fashion'!  Glenn Baer

Why don't you sign up as an expert on this site? Personally, I have no interest and little knowledge of American copper and brass.

I only vaguely recall the question, and cannot locate my answer. However, if the handle was described as forged, might it not be forged iron/steel? Rather depends on the definition of 'forged'.

If they are as scarce as you suggest, $100 seems very cheap.
