Question
I purchased a desk at a auction which has a name plate attatched inside left
drawer with the name grand rapid chair company and the name Dexter in the
center. The top of the desk looks like a wood vaneer and needs repair and has a
dull finishh with no patina. What do you suggest to make it more beautiful?

Answer
Hi Jane
Nice to hear from you.
First the veneer should be repaired.
If its just loose veneer you can force some glue under neath it and then put a weight over the glued area till the glue dries.
Just be sure all the underneath side of the area gets glue applied to it. Often a thin knife blade is helpful in spreading the glue on the underside of loose veneer.
Then try this product to revitalize the desk.

Expertise

I can answer most questions about the repairing and refinishing of all your old furniture items (the things we call antiques). I can also give you advice on what wood items to choose and what wood items to avoid at auctions, flea markets etc. I DO NOT give appraisals on antiques as this is not my field of expertise.

Experience

I have been repairing, refinishing and of course buying old furniture for the past 30 years. On any given weekend I can be found at auction sales or flea markets searching out a good buy. I have taken several courses in this area over the years, but I find "Hands On" learning to be the best teacher. I can help you avoid the pitfalls and problems of this wonderful rewarding craft.
