Question
I have a diningroom set by Bodart.  I can't seem to get any information on it, however, I am sure it is very old.  I would like to get chairs to match the set, but don't know where to look.  Do you know of this maker?  Is it, in fact, a maker or a collection name?  Thank you.

Answer
Hi Lisa
Nice to hear from you.
I was able to find this info regarding Bodart Furniture.

Bodart Furniture Co. was in business in Grand Rapids, Mich., from 1949 to 1973. Bodart made quality reproductions of antique European furniture forms, including desks, tables, chests and upholstered pieces.

As they obviously are not in business now, you may have difficulty finding the matching chairs.
But I'll bet you can find lots of nice chairs that would match this table fine. They don't necessarily have to be Bodart chairs.
Good Luck, and thanks for writing.
Eileen
Hope this helps

Expertise

I can answer most questions about the repairing and refinishing of all your old furniture items (the things we call antiques). I can also give you advice on what wood items to choose and what wood items to avoid at auctions, flea markets etc. I DO NOT give appraisals on antiques as this is not my field of expertise.

Experience

I have been repairing, refinishing and of course buying old furniture for the past 30 years. On any given weekend I can be found at auction sales or flea markets searching out a good buy. I have taken several courses in this area over the years, but I find "Hands On" learning to be the best teacher. I can help you avoid the pitfalls and problems of this wonderful rewarding craft.
