Question
I have two sets of C-11 grade 198 Globe-Wernicke Co. barrister bookcases.
There appears to be a metal guide on the side where a strap of some sort would
slide through to make more stable.  Is that what goes there and if so where
would I find a part?

Answer
Hi Sharon
Nice to hear from you.
Its been a while since I worked on a set of these and if memory serves, they do connect with metal slides.
Heres a pretty good picture of a set.

The only place I know that may be able to help is here

At the top of their homepage is the various items they carry.
Good Luck and a great question..you got me thinking and at my age thats always good LOL.
Kindest Regards

Expertise

I can answer most questions about the repairing and refinishing of all your old furniture items (the things we call antiques). I can also give you advice on what wood items to choose and what wood items to avoid at auctions, flea markets etc. I DO NOT give appraisals on antiques as this is not my field of expertise.

Experience

I have been repairing, refinishing and of course buying old furniture for the past 30 years. On any given weekend I can be found at auction sales or flea markets searching out a good buy. I have taken several courses in this area over the years, but I find "Hands On" learning to be the best teacher. I can help you avoid the pitfalls and problems of this wonderful rewarding craft.
