Hi Again Craig
I just had this asked of me and I would like to know if you want to talk to this man about your sweeper.
If you want to I will get his email address.
Heres mine if you want to contact me

Here is the question.
Hi,
I've seen a couple of queries about Hathaway items, particularly from a chap called Craig,Who had a Hathaway Carpet Sweeper-I'm really keen to get in touch with him-Basically because I'm the Great Grandson of George Hathaway,Who founded the company!I've never actually seen a Hathaway Sweeper, but I have the original brochures etc,so I could either fill this guy in on its history,or make him an offer for it!
there have also been enquiries about butter churns-if you would care to pass my contact details onto people who ask,i would be happy to give them copies of the brochure etc
Obviously, huge thanks to You Eileen,in anticipation!
Cheers,Peter.

Hi Craig
Nice to hear from you.
I could not find anything on this particular sweeper, but certainly they were sold as late as 1950 and possible after.
In our area, the electricity came around the late 30's, and we never had vacumn cleaners till the 1950's.
Possibly a nice collectable but little value I suspect.
Not much help but thanks for an interesting question.
Regards
Eileen

Expertise

I can answer most questions about the repairing and refinishing of all your old furniture items (the things we call antiques). I can also give you advice on what wood items to choose and what wood items to avoid at auctions, flea markets etc. I DO NOT give appraisals on antiques as this is not my field of expertise.

Experience

I have been repairing, refinishing and of course buying old furniture for the past 30 years. On any given weekend I can be found at auction sales or flea markets searching out a good buy. I have taken several courses in this area over the years, but I find "Hands On" learning to be the best teacher. I can help you avoid the pitfalls and problems of this wonderful rewarding craft.
