Question
QUESTION: i have an old "coolerator" icebox.  Everything on it is wood, including the original wooden handle.  the only metal is the hinges and screws.  It has all the wooden racks up top and down below.  This ice box is in great shape.  I was told it is from the WWII era when metal was being rashoned.
Can you tell me the best course of action to sell this?  I was told it is worth a little bit of money.
I have yet, (searching the internet), to find a picture of one like the one I have.

Thank you for your time,
Dan

ANSWER: Hi Dan
Nice to hear from you.
Have you considered selling the icebox on e-bay?
You could really hype up the sale with lots of pictures and descriptions. Just by reading your letter I personally would love to see this piece.
Worked on a few in my day but never one that was entirely wood. And it makes sense that it would be made in war time during rationing.
I'll bet  very few of these all wood ice boxes even survived intact because most would rot with lots of use.
So check out e-bay.
Good Luck and a great question

Answer
Thanks Dan.
I saw it.
Well in all my years this is a first for me.
Never imagined that such a thing was ever made.
Strange how it looks like a metal fridge.
Like everything about the page. Can't add to that.
And certainly interested to see what a final bid will be.
Good Luck

Expertise

I can answer most questions about the repairing and refinishing of all your old furniture items (the things we call antiques). I can also give you advice on what wood items to choose and what wood items to avoid at auctions, flea markets etc. I DO NOT give appraisals on antiques as this is not my field of expertise.

Experience

I have been repairing, refinishing and of course buying old furniture for the past 30 years. On any given weekend I can be found at auction sales or flea markets searching out a good buy. I have taken several courses in this area over the years, but I find "Hands On" learning to be the best teacher. I can help you avoid the pitfalls and problems of this wonderful rewarding craft.
