Question
My grandma's dining room set is missing one chair.  I would like to find one but don't know the style/name of the chair in order to talk to people about it.  I have a picture that I can send via e-mail to help identify it.  It has a carved wood back w/carved balls on the two front legs.  They are oak & came w/ a dining set around 1925 or so.  do you know of any internet sources I could send the picture to for ID purposes?  Thanks.

Thanks for your help. Sharon

Answer
Hi Sharon
Nice to hear from you.
Sharon you do not need to identify the style to get a replacement chair..simply take the pictures you have along with you when looking.
But I will certainly look at them to see if I can help.

Expertise

I can answer most questions about the repairing and refinishing of all your old furniture items (the things we call antiques). I can also give you advice on what wood items to choose and what wood items to avoid at auctions, flea markets etc. I DO NOT give appraisals on antiques as this is not my field of expertise.

Experience

I have been repairing, refinishing and of course buying old furniture for the past 30 years. On any given weekend I can be found at auction sales or flea markets searching out a good buy. I have taken several courses in this area over the years, but I find "Hands On" learning to be the best teacher. I can help you avoid the pitfalls and problems of this wonderful rewarding craft.
