Question
I have an item that is shaped like a guitar or a hourglass type shape. It is made of wood about 71/2 inches long. The bottom is 4 inches then narrows to about 11/2 inches in the middle and then flairsto 2 inches before narrowing to 1 inch. This item is in two pieces, split down the middle. It slides back and forth like a shuttle. There is a wire and screw on each side holding the two pieces together. On the topis an old ink pen shaped needle with a large eye. Under is a blade like attached to the other piece. It says ROSS PAT
DEC.27,1881.
We would like to find out what it is or where to look for information.
Thanks

Answer
Suzi - even though your description sounds pretty detailed, I am drawing a blank as to trying to picture your item.  But, since you have a patent date, you should be able to find information on the item by searching for that particular patent.  I know there is a web site devoted strictly to patent information, but I can't seem to put my fingers on it.  I'm sure if you use a search engine, such as google, you will be able to find it.  Good luck with your hunt!  Barb
