Question
Hello Martin
My wife and i recently were given a tea pot, sugar bowl and a small milk jug made by James Dixon And Sons.

These have significant family values. We have no intention of selling the items, so, a value is not required, i guess curiosity has got the better of me as i am an electroplater by trade and restore a lot of silverware where i work and just would like to know what the following stamps signify.
-trunpet and banner
-E.P.B.M (this i do know)
-E777
-1/5
-a capital C with a lower case d next to it which is underlined

any information on this would be appreciated, thank you.

Answer
-

Trumpet/banner - just a trade mark, first used by JD&S about 1880, but continued into the mid 20th century.

The other marks are pattern numbers (E777), workbench identifiers (the C, probably), capacity in half-pints (probably), and others are unexplained.
