Question
Hi Martin,

I hope you can help me identify and put a value on a small pewter pitcher I have.  The pitcher is 5 inches tall.  The bottom says James Dixon & Sons.  There is a 12 above James Dixon and Sons and 51886 below it.  That is all the markings.  It does NOT say Sheffield and does NOT have any of the markings I have read about i.e. trumpet, banner, etc.  Any help you can give would be most appreicated. Thanks, Susan

I'm not clear what you expect - it was made by Dixons of Sheffield, England, regardless of the presence or absence of certain words and symbols.

Without sight of the piece it is difficult to date closer than 1840 onwards, say probably late 19th century.
