Question
QUESTION: Hi Rex. I have tried everything everywhere to identify anything abt. this lamp. Any info. you may have would be GREATLY appreciated!
ANSWER: I have seen, owned, and rewired thousands of lamps but haven't come across one quite like this. By looking at the style and the socket, My best guess would be that it is from the late 1950s or into the 1960s. Are there any markings underneath the metal base? And is the socket cover originally aluminum/silver in color or was it gold finished but peeled off? Also I can't see the plug, is it detachable from the wire or built into the wire?
Thanks,
Rex

QUESTION: Hi Rex. A real stumper isn't it. I was wrong - there markings underneath the metal bottom - L & L 7891. The socket appears to be aluminum (silver). The white section in the photo is made of wood. The plug is part of the wire, but it may have been rewired/replaced. Thanks, Mary P.s. know anything about porcelain? :)
ANSWER: From the style, shape, and mechanical aspects of the lamp, I am leaning towards early 1960s. Its styled after a foreign look. I'm sure it is American though.I know some porcelain and pottery. I am not an avid collector but have bought and sold it over the years.

QUESTION: this is the bottom. Also have 2 matching candelabras.
AnswerHi, this piece looks to be European, according to its style and adornments. A couple of American companies are known for their metallic gold glazes, i.e. Lennox and Picard, but I believe this is European. It seems to be a high quality piece.
Thanks
