Question
I have a Hand Carved (in wood) picture of "The Last Supper". I do not know how old it is, my wife had taken it from her mother who had taken it from her mother.

Without getting into details of this item, I would like to find out if this item has any value but have no idea where to start. I have tried to do some research via the web, but have not found much help at all. Can you steer me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance,

Jerry

Answer
Hi Jerry
Nice to hear from you.
This sounds like a very interesting item.
It would seem that its quite old if it belonged to your wifes grandma.
I will recommend that you take this around to your local antique stores. Perhaps someone there could help.
Also museums are a lot of help at times too.
Only recently my sister in law and I took a painting to the art museum to see if we could get some info on it.
My sister in law had this painting for a number of years and it had belonged to her landlady who had given it to her.
Well it turned out this was a "Group of Seven" painting and worth a bit.
I do not know what else to suggest for this unusual item Jerry.
Sorry I am not much help.
And do not sell this item until you have a positive ID on it.
Good Luck

Expertise

I can answer most questions about the repairing and refinishing of all your old furniture items (the things we call antiques). I can also give you advice on what wood items to choose and what wood items to avoid at auctions, flea markets etc. I DO NOT give appraisals on antiques as this is not my field of expertise.

Experience

I have been repairing, refinishing and of course buying old furniture for the past 30 years. On any given weekend I can be found at auction sales or flea markets searching out a good buy. I have taken several courses in this area over the years, but I find "Hands On" learning to be the best teacher. I can help you avoid the pitfalls and problems of this wonderful rewarding craft.
