Question I was meatle detecting the other day and I found a old needlethreader( silver in color, a womans face on it ,and it is marked germany could you please tell me something about this?
Thank You Cindra
Answer Hello Cindra. Needlethreaders have been mass produced since the early 1900s. They were often used as an advertising medium so your woman's face may be the logo used by a specific company. Prudential Insurance often used the faces of women on their needlethreaders and disc pincushions. Chances are your needlethreader is aluminum, if it is silver in color, as those are one of the more plentiful threaders. There are a number of books out on needlework tools. Perhaps your local library has books on the topic. Without a picture, I can't tell you much more than that. If you can send a digital picture, please do so. bacchino@twcny.rr.com Good luck with your search. Barbara
