Question
I have this nice piece and don't have a clue what it is or where it came from or the year it was built. Can you please shed some light on this lovely piece for me?

Answer
Hi Brett
Nice to hear from you.
What a lovely piece of furniture this is.
Its called a "slant front secretary".
That is basically all I can tell you, but this piece needs proper identification.
Would you mind contacting another expert who can be found on the same page you found me.
The mans name is Fred Taylor and this gentleman knows his American antiques.
Often times we see the words "Maxed out" beside one of the experts names. This does not mean they have quit but only that they have received the required amount of questions for the day. So you may have to be patient, but please try.
I will be watching for a response.
Kindest Regards
Eileen

Expertise

I can answer most questions about the repairing and refinishing of all your old furniture items (the things we call antiques). I can also give you advice on what wood items to choose and what wood items to avoid at auctions, flea markets etc. I DO NOT give appraisals on antiques as this is not my field of expertise.

Experience

I have been repairing, refinishing and of course buying old furniture for the past 30 years. On any given weekend I can be found at auction sales or flea markets searching out a good buy. I have taken several courses in this area over the years, but I find "Hands On" learning to be the best teacher. I can help you avoid the pitfalls and problems of this wonderful rewarding craft.
