Question
Hi there, i was just wondering if you could help me out with something i found when cleaning out a store cupboard at a pub i work in in england. i have found two boxed metal optics by gaskell and chambers, and not knowing much about them i have no idea how much they are worth. they are both porcelain lined. both are engraved one says THE VISIBLE MASONS.PAT 175562-22 AND THE NUMBER 6. And the other has BLACK AND WHITE WHISKY around the front of the optic with various markings on it including PROPERTY OF J.BUCHANAN CO LTD IM/143956 PAT.NO 298589 316459 THE OPTIC PEARL.  I would be most grateful if you could tell me any information on this and your help is gratefully appeciated.

Gaskell & Chambers were in Birmingham from 1898 to the 1970s. They made all sorts of barfittings. These are probably 1950s-1970s. You could research the patents at the Patent Office (as was, now called the UK Intellectual Property Office).

Value just a few pounds at best.
