Question
hello, my dad was a dealer and passed away leaving me with alot of antiques, in his collection he left me a pewter jug, it has a marking on the bottom which is an angel with what looks to be palms leaves either side of her/him, i looked in an antique book and saw one similiar that says it was a chocolate pot, is this correct and can you tell by the markings when or where this would of been made and approx price it is worth? sorry for so many questions, i find this piece very interesting. thankyou for taking the time, regards, lesley.

The angel mark you describe could be any of hundreds used in continental europe from the 16th century to the present day, on all types of pewter ware, so it does little to help identify the item or its date, but it was probably made in europe.
