Question
i recently came upon a approx. 8 inch pewter plate that has on the back where it is meant to be hung 3 marks. an angel mark with the angel facing the right and it appears to be holding a trumpet. to the left bottom the the angel's skirt is what looks like a T, and directly at the base is an S.  with this novice description can you give me any idea of the maker and date of the piece?

Answer
-

Continental European, c1900, very common type. The style of mark (angels with trumpets) is used by hundreds of makers, and not all are recorded, so it would be futile to search for a name - it is of little significance as the piece is not a type popular with collectors. Just a decorative object.
