Collectibles-General (Antiques)/pewter plate

Question
I have an old pewter plate with a stamp on it that shows an angel with a sword. Actually there are three identical stamps but they are all indistinct at the bottom part. What I can read says "..EIN.ENGLISCH.Z.." I would like to know more about this plate. I don't think it's American. I'd guess German, based on the spelling. It also has the initials TMW in a line. I would really appreciate any information you might have about the plate. I inherited it years ago.

Answer

Correct - it is German. The device and text are common to a vast number of German touchmarks, so it is not possible to identify the maker from your description. Probably c1800.

That's all there is to say, really. You don't want to know the value (you would be very disappointed).
