Question

side view of jug/tea k
Dear Mr Roberts
I hope you will be able to help me, I bought what looks like a tea kettle in a
flea market, because I liked the look of it, it has B K on the bottom, what
looks like Pegasus and a figure is between the B and the K, it has Britannia
metal, 1410 and 6 1/2.
Please would you give me any information you have on it?  The date, origin
and if it has any value.  I paid 30?for it and was very happy until my evil
boyfriend took me to ebay and gleefully showed me endless number of
similar looking objects for 1 quid.
In some of your responses you refer enquirers to your other answers on
Britannia metal, but I was not able to find anything.  Do things get deleted
after a while?
Thank you for your time and expertise.

Answer

Coffee pot. Made of Britannia metal, which is a pewter alloy formulated for fabricating from sheet, rather than casting. The mark is not recorded, but itis probably English (made in Sheffield), and probably dates around 1900, or a bit later.

1410 is a pattern number.
6 1/2 is probably the capacity in Imperial half-pints.

Value: your boyfriend has the right idea!
