Question
what wouldthemarkingsbeonajugover100yearsold

Answer
There are many thousands of recorded marks on antique pewter, including marks on tankards (i.e. lidded mugs), mugs, measures, flagons, jugs and other holloware. No single mark is diagnostic.

If you want to research these things, you could start with Laughlin's Pewter in America (3 volumes, 656 pages) and Cotterell's Old Pewter (1 volume, 6,141 pewterers and their marks). Will that be enough to be going on with?
