Question
Hello,
I recently picked up an old scale (1870?) It looks like it may have been used to check weight of nails or something of the sort, it says "Avery Patent" on the side and has the numbers 182 at the top, it is very pitted and looks very old but I cannot seem to find any information on it, can you help?  Thanks.

Answer
Hi George,

I try to tell everyone in the what I know about, and scales is not one I know about. I get a pile of scale questions and I am just not the guy to ask. But, if you want to take the time to e-mail me a photo of it, if I can find any information I let you know, I'll try to get you some information, but scales are a hard item and there tons of them. My e-mail address is jackpot7@ix.netcom.com Please don't give me bad feed back for answering you and trying to help, I offered to help on a scale question once before and got a bad feedback for my trouble, so I was just going to reject any and all scale questions from then on, but I would like to try to help you if I can.
Thank You
Rodger

Expertise

I am an expert on old coin operated machines, slot machines, trade stimulator's, jukeboxes, old arcade machines, etc. I have been identifying these for people who respond to my web site listed below, for a few years now. In almost all cases I am able to tell them about their old coin operated machines, the year, the value, and other general information about their machines. I do not know much about soda vending machines, coin banks, or scales, but I will try to help you with these if I can. Please email photo's to: jackpot7@ix.netcom.com My web site is at: http://www.coinslots.com

Experience

I bought my first slot machine, a .50 Cent Mills Black Cherry in 1969 and have been hooked from that time, I still have that Slot machine! Before that I found a open barrel full of old scraped jukebox wall boxes behind a restaurant, I wanted them all but never took a one of them. Anything that took a coin drove me nuts!
