Question
Hi!!
I read how to repair the desk top but would like to know where to purchase the canvas for the top and what kind is best????

Great question and one no one has asked before.
I am in Canada and we have a chain called "Fabric Land".
I get canvas there.
You can also go to a place that does upholstery work.
No certain kind, but if you have a choice between a bit heavier as opposed to lighter, go heavier.
And possibly take a piece of the old canvas for reference.

I have been repairing, refinishing and of course buying old furniture for the past 30 years. On any given weekend I can be found at auction sales or flea markets searching out a good buy. I have taken several courses in this area over the years, but I find "Hands On" learning to be the best teacher. I can help you avoid the pitfalls and problems of this wonderful rewarding craft.
