Question
I have amassed a collection of alloy nickel thimbles, star on cap (Mathis 602-605) they are in abundance, and different sizes, 7,8 & 9 w/different band variations.  They are American made, mid-20th century. Do you have any insight on clues to the manufacturer's name or dates of production?  No urgency, thank you!

Answer
Hello Miriam.  Without a maker's mark, it is impossible to identify the maker.  These common thimbles were mass produced over a span of years, so pinpointing the date of creation is also impossible.  The star on the cap that you mention is a product of the knurling process and not a mark, as such.  Sorry I couldn't be of more help.  Barb
