Collectibles-General (Antiques)/thread spools

Question
I was wondering if wooden or strafoam thread spools are worth anything.  These are the thread spools for hand sewing.

Answer
Hello Beth.  Styrofoam or plastic thread spools have no collectible value, that I know of.  Wooden spools do have some value if they are very old and advertise a thread that is no longer made.  They can have paper labels or they can be stamped into the wood.  They are very reasonably priced for collectors.....a wooden spool in very good shape would with an intact label can bring $1.00 - $2.00.  Not bad considering the thread it held probably sold for 10 to 25 cents!  Barb
