Subject: wooden sewing attachments box

Question
My granddaughter has an old Singer attachments box that unfolds flat. When opened it has triangular points that fit together when closed and seals the box.  It's approximately 3" x 3" x 6".  What can you tell me about this box?  Thank you, Joy

Answer
Hello Joy.  Your granddaughter's box was made for industrial sewing machine parts and attachments.  There should be an embossed oval on the top part of the puzzle box (which is what they refer to them as) with the patent date, which can be researched at the US Patent Office web site.  These boxes seem to be a common item.  Hope I've provided some insight for you and your granddaughter.  Barbara
